the council should not waste the money for a footpath on upperthorpe road just repair the side of the road, then it will be ok and by having people walk on the road will help keep the speeding down

Or just paint a white line - like a cycle track - for people and drivers to treat as a footpath!
Unfortunately in this day and age with many drivers goinf too fast on village roads, I suspect a proper footpath is necessary.

I asked North Lincs to create a footpath on Upperthorpe Road, I appreciate it will incur a substantial cost and I think it will represent good value for money, judging by it scoring with the county they agree.
It is worth noting that it is popular route being regularly used by dog walkers, local walkers, joggers and ramblers accessing the footpath net work and of course people moving on foot between the two villages. A party of young children are taken to and from school from a local child minding service and have to use the lower part of Upperthorpe Road.
It might seem that to ask all of these groups to act as speed restrictors is a little dangerous, I am sure they would agree especially when navigating the lower end where it is difficult to see round the curve in the road and over the brow of the hill. It generally requires people to cross over and contrary to the Highway Code walk with there backs to the traffic.
I have never approached the Parish Council for support as this was a private request it is my intention to approach the Parish Council for support along with other interested user groups. I hope they will support in principle the whole length a footpath and in respect of the lower part agree it requires action sooner rather than later.
It would be sad if no footpath was provided, how much is a life worth?

The state of the road is very poor more pot holes and the road is breaking up in many places needs repairing soon or they will hve to re tarmac the whole road.
